21 days to go

Only three weeks until I'll be waving goodbye to the lush lands of Europe and making my way to China and Tibet. I've finally managed to get most of my visas sorted, the only ones lacking are ones I have to apply for when I'm travelling or I get on arrival. I got my in transit visa for Sri Lanka (yep, you need one just to travel through Sri Lanka), and my Australian working holiday visa got approved last night so next summer will officially be spent Down Under cookin' some goodness for the folks!!!!!!!

The first in Nepal is being spent in The Last Resort, which in itself is seriously cool, though getting there really isn't. You have to cross the deepest gorge in Nepal on frikkin' rickety bridge and it's very possible that I'm going to die on that. Or poo in my pants, not quite sure yet.

This week I've been packing up my belongings in boxes, and can I just say that the amount of CD's and DVD's I own is ridiculous. And did I get rid of any? HELL NO. I did get rid of some books though which I feel I have earned a pat on the back for. I've also packed up some of my dishes, and have been really ruthless as to what I'm keeping and what I'm not. So I've only got one box of dishes and shizzle... Bloody miracle if you ask me. I am a bit sad to be leaving this flat behind me. I've been here for almost 3 years, and this place is so cute and nice and cozy and my first own home. Gonna get weepy.

I'm going to London on Wednesday to see my Dad, Moira and Fifi (and Saul too!), have some good times and then maybe weep a wee bit when I have to leave. We're doing dim sum in Chinatown and the Book of Mormon (yes, I know you're jealous, I mean it's Gavin Creel as Elder Price!!!!!!) and I get to check out my sister's new digs (stop growing up Moira).

I will be taking a wee tablet with me when I go travelling with a nifty keypad, so updating my blog won't be dependt on an internet cafe, but dodgy WiFi!! Also I am leaving armed with a folder full of NeNe Leakes, Honey Boo Boo, Glee gifs and many, many more. You're welcome.

Anyhoo, one must dash as one has to get ready for this weekend and it's celebrations. So many celebrations this weekend, folks!!!

It's very possible that this is gonna be me on Monday.

Of visas and toilet paper.

ONE MONTH TO GO AND THEN I'M OFF

I've got my visas for China and India sorted, so I still need to apply for a Vietnamese one and then the working holiday visa for Australia before I leave. Nepal and Thailand I can get on arrival, same with New Zealand.

I've got my jabs, well almost. I was only missing one for Japanese encephalitis, so I got the first of two jabs yesterday. The second I get 4 days before I leave. I also needed to get my typhoid one renewed, but luckily that one is in pill form, so no pricks and sore arms and muscles. I can tell you I've got a hefty lump of stuff under my skin on my left arm from yesterday; not pleasant.

It hasn't hit me that I'm going. A month is a really short amount of time, and I've got lots of stuff planned for it too, so the next four weeks are going to whizz by. I've not started packing yet, but I have started compiling a list of what I need to pack. The first item on said list? Toilet paper. Because where I'm going, toilet paper is not guaranteed. Not so bad if you're a guy, but when you're a girl....

I have just eaten a bag of frozen grapes and hot diggity they were goooooooooooooooooooood.

New adventure, new blog

Well a hearty hello to you!

In 48 days I'm jetting across the globe as being in one spot for long periods of time seems to be a somewhat difficult feat for myself.

I'm starting my journey in China. My Mum and I are flying to Beijing with a group of other Finns to discover the wonder that Tibet holds. I'm just getting goosebumps thinking about going there! We start our journey in Beijing, where we'll be going to the Great Wall of China, and then we'll be exploring around too. I'm going to make sure we get some duck too. Nom.

From Beijing we'll embark on a train set for Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The train ride takes two days. (Glad I get on very well with my Mother!) Once in Lhasa we'll be based there for a few days, looking and exploring and going to temples and monasterys and such. After Lhasa it's off to the plains for some rural Tibet life, and from there we'll be making our way to Nepal. Nepal includes a trip to Mount Everest base camp!!

Mum and the other Finns will be leaving Kathamandu after just a day or two, and will be heading back to Finland via Delhi. I will be staying on Nepal all on my lonesome. Planning at least a trek or two.

From Nepal I'm going to India. Definitely going Udaipur because that's where they filmed most of Octopussy. :D My plans for Crimbo and New Year? Goa!!!

On January 3rd I fly to Bangkok from Mumbai via Colombo. From there I have until March 14th to make it to Singapore, most likely via Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia (Bali to be precise), and from there I FLY TO FRICKIN' NEW ZEALAND!!!!!!!!

From there on I'll be making my way to Australia at some point with a working holiday visa in order to do some cooking probably in Sydney.

The one thing I'm so excited about? THE FOOD. Indian, Nepalese, Vietnamese, Thai...........

Right it's back to Harry Potter, bye!
